Acknowledgement:

We acknowledge that all of this land of Southern Ontario was once the exclusive territories of the Wendake-Nionwentsio, Haudenoshaunee, the Anishnaabeg, The Mississauga, Petun, Odawa, Attawandaron and many others. These peoples lost their control and right to benefit from these lands through unfair and coercive treaty negotiations. This has been a long and complicated history. Cooper’s Foodscaping primarily occupies and operates on land that was acquired in the Williams treaty and Rice lake purchase (Treaty 20). Our nearest Communities are those of the Chippewas of Georgina Island and the Mississaugas of Scugog Island. We thank them deeply for their care of this land, both now and in the past. Jeremy is a settler who is committed to learning the indigenous histories of the land he occupies. He endeavours to respect the land and work in harmony with it, as well as to honour and respect the now diverse peoples living upon it.

Our Approach:

Cooper’s Foodscaping strives to be adaptable, connecting people to where their food comes from, which can look different for each client. We use a context based approach, often using recycled or found materials to create beautiful ‘scapes’. We meet folks where they are at, and help them get more involved in their growing space. We are always happy to engage and answer all questions. The path to growing opens up after the first step. We believe that engaging the human-land relationship is the best way forward in the modern day.

The process for us is straightforward. People are encouraged to fill out the questionnaire and book a consultation. From there, we decide which of our services are best for you (with your consent of course)! After that, We will deliver a design if needed, then install and maintenance services promptly and happily as needed from there. All billing will be through invoices from Cooper’s Foodscaping and will be payable after services have been rendered. For larger projects, a deposit may be required. Payment accepted through e-transfer, Pay-pal and cash.

Urban Guilds Permaculture and Kids Growing City

Cooper’s Foodscaping has worked closely with Urban Guilds Permaculture since 2017. Together, we have collaborated on several projects in the GTA, creating beautiful food forests on private yards and even in schools. Kids Growing City is an excellent organization providing in school nature/gardening workshops for students. Through their programs students learn the full life cycle of plants and get to create a permaculture style garden on their school grounds.. And of course they get to eat all the tasty veggies and fruits!

Transition Toronto

The ‘Transition Towns’ movement began in the UK and focuses on increasing the sustainability of cities around the world. The organization does this through various initiatives from increasing home energy efficiency to supporting sustainable projects. In Toronto they also organize and support the annual Eco-Fair. Jeremy is connected to the Toronto chapter through the steering committee. Transition Toronto also supports a fantastic program called Tree-Mobile. This is a volunteer run program to sell, distribute and plant fruit trees and bushes at affordable prices across the GTA and southern Ontario.
